Furniture Drawn from the Skyline
Inspired by Brisbane’s Story Bridge
Designed for a Brisbane penthouse, this bespoke dining table was inspired by the rhythm, curves and structural character of the Story Bridge. The concept creates a meaningful connection between the furniture, the interior and the remarkable view.
From Concept to Design
The bridge geometry was explored through hand sketches and transformed into a sculptural table base. Repeated curved supports create movement and strength, while the refined Lapitec tabletop provides an elegant and durable surface.
A Functional Work of Art
More than a dining table, the Storyline Table is a place for family, guests and memorable gatherings. Designed by Art Decoline Design Studio, it brings together bespoke furniture design, architectural thinking and Brisbane’s unique city identity.
The Client Brief
The client required a generous dining table for relaxed family meals, formal dining and larger social gatherings. A key requirement was to avoid conventional table legs that could obstruct guests’ knees or restrict seating positions. The table therefore needed a unique central support system that would keep the perimeter clear, comfortable and flexible.
Our ambition was to create a one-of-a-kind piece that would:
- Respond to the penthouse and its panoramic outlook
- Provide generous, unobstructed seating and comfortable legroom
- Offer a practical surface for dining and entertaining
- Feel sculptural without overwhelming the interior
- Express strength, balance and architectural refinement
- Become a memorable focal point from every direction
The table needed to belong to this particular place—not feel like an ordinary piece selected from a catalogue.
